Zoo education was a fun & interesting way to start my career. It has given me a unique lens and an early start in instructional design.
2014-2016
Zoo Educator
While pursuing my Bachelor's, I was employed by the Sedgwick County Zoo to present classroom courses for ages 4 yr-13 yr olds. I also created & presented the zoo's summer library series utilizing grade school curriculum markers for learning outcomes.
2012
Lead Volunteer Education Aide
I was promoted to Lead Education Aide at the Cincinnati Zoo and was given the opportunity to develop educational opportunities for zoo guests to have interactive learning experiences while at exhibits. I was given the freedom to research, develop, and present my material.
2009-2011
Volunteer Education Aide
In this role at the Cincinnati Zoo, I supported Zoo Educators in the presentation of environmental courses for students ages 4-12yrs. Progressively, I was given more responsibility and freedom to present classroom material myself.
